Theatre I
1 credit, 1 year; open to grades 9-12. Prerequisite: none. This class serves as an introduction to the performing arts with emphasis on developing individual performance abilities. All projects involve class members in group or individual participation in such activities as pantomimes, improvisations, scenes, extemporaneous talks, discussion, and play performances.
Theatre II, III, IVTheatre II - Emphasis will be on advancing acting techniques, serious study of comedy and tragedy, play directions, play production, and the technical aspects of play production.
Theatre III - There will be more in-depth training in advanced acting techniques, directing techniques, and all phases of technical theatre. Theatre IV - Each student will be responsible for the production of a one-act play and will assist with the selection and production of the state drama festival play. Students will help with the maintenance of all aspects of the theatre areas. It is expected that all participants of Theatre II, III, and IV will be involved in all aspects of the school theatre productions and regional and state festivals. |
Theatre/Stage Prep
1 credit, 1 year; open to grades 9-12. Prerequisite: none. This class would assist in maintaining the theatre facility of the school. Students would help to set up and tear down the stage equipment used in the theatre. Students would work during class time to prepare lights, sound, and stage properties for performances, assemblies, and other school and theatrical events. The class is designed for students who need an art credit but do not have the desire too perform on stage. Limit of 15 students per year.
